The Mafumbini Church of the Nazarene in Kilifi Town, Kenya, is uniquely positioned to serve their community. Poverty rates are high, and many children do not have opportunities to gain an education. Church leaders felt called to help answer these challenging situations, and collaborated closely with church members who are professional educators. That is how the Kilifi School was born, seeking to serve specifically children who are orphaned or who have parents who are absent in some way.

Classes began in the church hall, and later they moved to semi-permanent mud rooms. Through the course of this project, generous financial partners have helped the school be able to construct 5 classrooms. The students began studying in the new classrooms in 2022. Though there were no doors or windows on the new classrooms, studying in a permanent structure was a significant upgrade for the students and teachers!
