In the city of Dohuk, located in northern Kurdistan, Iraq, a thriving Nazarene Church has become a beacon of hope by faithfully serving the marginalized in their community, regardless of background or belief. This congregation embody Christ’s call to love and serve all people, building deep relationships within their city and offering compassion where it’s needed most.
Since the Iraq War, the number of Christians in the country has dropped dramatically, from an estimated 1.5 million before 2003 to fewer than 400,000 today. Yet amid this decline, the Church of the Nazarene has remained steadfast. Officially established in Iraq in 2003, the church has been sustained by courageous leaders who chose to stay and minister rather than emigrate. The Nazarene pastors continue to serve faithfully, nurturing their congregations and sharing the hope of Christ across a region marked by loss and transition.
You can help strengthen the Church of the Nazarene in Iraq by supporting The Dohuk Church of the Nazarene as they share Christ’s love in their community. Your gift makes hope possible in Dohuk.
