The Lira Church of the Nazarene, a part of the Uganda Central District, started with 2 families meeting in a pastor’s home in 2019. Since then, the church has grown to 35 adults and many children.
This project funds a tailoring training program for church members and the equipping them with important necessary skills. Leaders said, “This community is in need. We believe that we are here to meet the spiritual needs and trust God that we could also meet the physical needs.”
The goal is to equip and empower this growing church to reach their community with a message of hope and holiness by extending practical skills to those who need it.
Leaders shared that as of April 2024, there were 41 young women enrolled in the tailoring training. The training is offered free to those who have had to drop out of school due to financial pressure. After completing the training, each graduate receives the gift of a new sewing machine to use to support themselves and their families.
The funding need is ongoing since sewing machines are being consistently distributed as participants complete the program. Praise for the blessing these machines are in the lives of these young women. The annual need is approximately $5,000 USD.
Your gift will help these believers response to the ways God is calling them in their community, offering practical, long-term help through technical training. Thank you for supporting the work of the Church in the Uganda Central District!
