Serving In

Shannon has been serving in Cambodia since 2018. She spent most of the first two years studying the Khmer language, so she would be able to communicate with the people of Cambodia. She has served as a guide for teams ministering in villages and communities and she is currently helping with District support and development, as well as education for local pastors. Since she is passionate about Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, she has enjoyed participating with medical teams, going to distribute rice seed, and going to distribute food to needy families in the provinces where the Church of the Nazarene is currently ministering.

Shannon is so grateful to serve God in Cambodia among the beautiful and welcoming Khmer people. She never anticipated when God called her to cross-cultural ministry at the age of 16 that she would follow God to this place and be given the opportunity to make disciples and share the love, hope, and freedom only found in Christ with people in a country where less than 2% of people are Christians.

God gave her this Scripture passage a few years ago that has shaped her for what He has called her to do in Cambodia: "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor."-Isaiah 61:1-3.

Shannon's prayer is that God would use her to share the love and hope of Christ in an incarnational way with the people of Cambodia!
