Luke grew up in Michigan. He studied at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois where he earned a bachelor’s degree in religious studies. He also commissioned as an officer in the United States Army Reserve through Olivet’s ROTC program. Mami is Japanese and grew up in a missionary family. She has lived in Taiwan, Japan, and the Philippines. She studied at International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan where she earned a bachelor’s degree in linguistics.
Luke and Mami met each other studying at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. During their time at Asbury, Luke earned a Master of Arts degree in Theological Studies as well as a Master of Divinity degree. Mami earned a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and a Master of Divinity degree. They were married in 2021. Luke is currently studying at Nazarene Theological Seminary to earn a Doctor of Ministry degree in Spiritual Formation and Discipleship.
Luke has served as a military Chaplain since 2016 in the Army Reserves. He has also served as an Associate Pastor at Richfield Church of the Nazarene in Otisville, Michigan since 2019. Mami serves with a ministry called Japanese Christian Fellowship Network. She is also a Licensed Minister at Richfield Church of the Nazarene.
Luke and Mami received a calling to be missionaries in Japan, and they will be serving at a Keystone Nazarene Church. Keystone is an English-speaking congregation made up of US military personnel, Japanese, Filipinos, and other nationalities. They look forward to seeing how God works through this ministry in Okinawa.
