MSP Field comprises seven countries including Papua New Guinea (PNG), Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Fiji, the Western and American Samoa, and Tonga. In PNG, pastors are trained and equipped for ministry at the Melanesia Nazarene Bible College (MNBC). For many years, the Bible College has struggled to find the resources required to equip their institution with technologies that will greatly help it to effectively train pastors.
They lack computers for their students to use, infrastructure to support a student information system, and internet connectivity to support and facilitate the use of online resources. Moving forward, MNBC wants to support its Bachelor’s program, collaborate with other seminaries to offer courses that they don’t have faculty for, and improve the computer literacy of their graduates.
MNBC shares the campus at Tuman with the Melanesia Nazarene Teachers College. The Teachers College is in a similar situation, with infrastructure that has been implemented by past partners that have since left, and the infrastructure has been largely abandoned. Together, these two schools are working to improve their technology infrastructure in ways that will help them for years into the future. This project aims to support and equip these institutions through the “phase 1” construction of a data network between the administration building and both schools' computer labs. The estimated cost for “phase 1” is $10,000.00.
