Hope Farm was given the name Hope because of what it represents to thousands of people living in Turkana. It began when Nazarenes sought a way to provide food security particularly for women in this area of Kenya. It is part of the Kenya Gender Based Violence Partnership established in 2011.

Those who participate in this program earn an income by farming in a place many thought could never produce food due to the dry conditions and soil quality. However, this is not proven to be the case! Agriculture techniques such as a drip irrigation system, integrating poultry farming to supplement organic matter in the soil, and shade nets, among other approaches, have made the land has flourish under the care of the women at Hope Farm.

They have transformed the desert into a place of abundance. Over 1,000 trees have been planted on the farm, and the surrounding community uses water from the farm for their livestock.

Leaders shared in late 2022 that the poultry project has been a particularly successful addition to the farm, providing important organic material to improve farming yields and provide some supplementary income. In the past year, they added two new shade nets to bring the total to 4. Along with the greenhouses, these have improved the capacity to grow watermelon and spinach.

The farm has impacted not one but three generations and has greatly improved the living standards of the beneficiaries.
