As a family, we strive to be Christ-like by living a life that reflects the inclusive love and grace of God in a practical way.
We are the Twal family: Annabelle, Shahade, Yara, Miah, and Lina. Shahade is originally from Jordan, and Annabelle is from Switzerland. We met in Germany while Shahade was studying at the European Nazarene College (EUNC). In 2009, we got married and began serving at the local Nazarene Church and at EUNC, while also working in a local company.
After the birth of our second daughter, we sensed God’s call to serve as missionaries in Jerusalem. We spent eight years there, where Shahade pastored the local church and was involved in outreach, compassionate ministry, district work, and leadership development. Annabelle served as Worship Director and Children’s Ministry Director, and together we helped coordinate district finances. During this time, we also launched a ministry to the local Arab community, teaching English and German as second languages, while renovating the church building and pastor’s apartment. Partnering with the global church and Work & Witness teams over those years was a great blessing.
Today, we serve as Global Missionaries at the Eurasia Regional Office in Germany. Shahade coordinates Alabaster, Partnerships across the Region, and serves as the Regional Missions Teams Coordinator. Annabelle works as the Regional Graphic Designer and is part of the Regional Communications Team. Together, we help connect churches and people across cultures to participate in God’s mission in creative and meaningful ways. Our diverse cultural backgrounds, along with our years in Israel, continue to shape and enrich our work as we support the church’s mission in the Eurasia Region.
